August and September Newsletter.

We are so thankful for God’s faithfulness over the last few months. In August and September we have had so much to be thankful for and we are excited to share it all with you so you too may join us in giving God the glory for what He is doing in Uganda and the lives of these young men.

In August, our founder Nathanael Lindquist was able to travel out to Uganda to continue working with the boys and staff on the team. His intentions in going were to evaluate the day to day running of the academy, take supplies and build further connections. It was an amazing trip and he was able to witness the great amount of growth that has happened since last year.

During his visit he spent time overseeing training sessions and was also able to watch the boys perform in two friendly matches. Him and the team he went with were also able to spend a day doing outreach in partnership with the local church, Calvary Chapel. They spent time connecting with and getting to know the players’ families. We brought them some food gifts as well as praying and sharing the gospel with them. Knowing the home situation that our player’s come from is so important to us at Mungu FC. It is quite an honor to be a part of each of their lives but it is also challenging and hard to witness many who have broken families. This led to one of our big realizations from this trip: our need to put up a dormitory where those of our players who are orphans can come live and thrive in an environment that is made to benefit them.

Answers to Prayers

Some large answers to prayers from this trip include finding a field in connection with the church that we can develop and make our own field. We are working with a non-profit to try and get this project started and financially covered most of the way. Our hope is to have two 7 a-side fields on the land - one that will be turfed and one one that will be grass. This will allow us to not just have our own place to train and play matches but also host soccer events as well as mission outreaches through soccer in partnership with the church.

Another prayer answered was in potentially finding a school close by that we could partner with that would allow all our boys to go to school together. This will allow us to monitor their education a little more closely as well as making it easier to train as a team since everyone’s schedule will be the same. We are working hard with the school in order to begin that partnership in January when the new school year starts in Uganda.

With some time out of school in September the boys have been training everyday and our U12 team recently won a tournament and became champions of Uganda for their age group. We continue to win trophies, while playing a great standard of soccer but more importantly playing with great sportsmanship and showing Christ-likeness.  We are now up to 8 major tournaments won and our squad of players is filled with some really exciting talent. We are working on getting scouts and teams to come watch these players as they continue to grow in their skills and talents.

Lastly, we are excited to announce that we have expanded the capacity of the players on our team, and now have 11 new players added to our roster that need a sponsor. Without sponsorship, many of them will struggle to go or stay in school and will not be able to play on the team at MUNGU. We need your help to make that happen and ask that you consider paying 34$/month for one of these youngsters to have food, schooling, shelter, and any of the soccer needs. Check out our website at (Mungu Academy), also watch our Instagram as we introduce them there over the next few weeks

Prayer Requests

- We are so blessed to have gotten where we are today, and are looking to expand our team in a few ways. We are looking for a social media director who can manage day to day posting and updates with social media (YouTube, Instagram, TikTok) as well as a Sponsors Liaison who will handle all communications from sponsors and new sponsorships. If interested in a role please email mungufc@gmail.com.

- Please pray for the hearts of the boys, that as they experience Christ through their coach and mentors that they might give their lives to Christ.

- For our conversations with  organizations who might be interested in partnering with us - particularly for the school in Uganda that we would like our boys to attend.

Thank you whole heartedly to all of you who support financially, through prayer, and words of encouragement. We hope that, like us, you will be encouraged by what the Lord is doing. All glory to God.
