February Newsletter 2024

Don't miss opportunities for you!

1. Write off your donations on your taxes! MUNGU are an official 501(c)(3) organization, which means that we are eligible to receive tax-deductible contributions. When you are filing your taxes, report your MUNGU donations. All of our donors should have received their tax deductible amount from 2023. If you did not receive this or need any further information for this process or a receipt, please reach out to us and so we can ensure that you have all the information that you need.

2. We would love to have your business's name or logo on our new jersey. Our new jerseys are set to go to Uganda in June and we would love to have you represented on our iconic Mungu kits. Our shirts will go to the printers in May so please reach out as soon as you can if you are interested in this or any further information  - mungufc@gmail.com

Joshua, Pius, Edirisa and Simon are all smiles as they speak to Mungu Directors prior to their donor calls.

With players heading back to school this past month, it was quiet on the soccer side of things. With upcoming tournaments and the beginning of the league in March, February was spent practicing and preparing for the next months competitions.
Off the field on the other hand, it was a very exciting time. As we seek to create more opportunities for sponsors and players to engage with one another, a great highlight for us this month was hosting our first video connect call. On Saturday the 24th of February we were able to welcome some of our donors to speak face to face with the child they are sponsoring. While many of the players were shy since this was their first time, it was a great opportunity for players to express their gratitude as well as ask questions and learn more about their donor.
Right after this, we hosted our first open invite call with the management at MUNGU Soccer Academy. Donors as well as other interested parties were able to hear from the founder Mr Lindquist about what is happening currently and what the future holds for Mungu. We are so grateful for those who were able to make the call and please mark your calendars for the first week of June when we will be hosting our second connect video call.

Back to School Player Fellowship

Another highlight was the opportunity for our management team on the ground to host a back to school fellowship event for the team. As players returned to school it was a chance to encourage the boys through scripture and pray over them while also treating them to a delicious meal. Our directors spoke to the boys from Ecclesiastes 12:1 "Remember your Creator in the days of your youth..." and Proverbs 1:7 "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction..." The young men were challenged to choose Christ even when there are consequences and to be leaders in their classrooms and schools by serving those around them as Christ served. A meal of grilled chicked, fries and salad also brought a smile to their faces.

Coach's Corner.

Coach Kato's player to highlight this month is Becka Mikisa. "Becka is the only girl on our team but she never complains and always gives her best. Her favorite subject is history and when she grows up she wants to play professional soccer."

Faith. Football. Future.
