Easter Community Outreach
Our major highlights for this past month were all centered around Easter. Our first one was the chance to bless our community this month through the Easter Outreach. Our staff and team spent their Saturday, on the 23rd of March, visiting a number of families in the community and assisting with cutting grass, cleaning their houses and tidying up any trash in the surrounding streets. The families as well as members of the community were so grateful and excited to see young men giving back to their neighborhoods. Following this our staff travelled to the different boys homes and took a small Easter gift of beans, soap, cooking oil, rice and sugar. The families were full of joy by the generosity shown and listened as our staff members shared the gospel and words of encouragement with them. We thank God for the hard work our staff are doing in Uganda to impact those around them and share Christ's love.

Easter Uganda Tournament
Our second main event for March was our Good Friday Uganda Tournament. This tournament was organized by a Christian NGO known as Sports Outreach Ministries. The organizers were particularly excited to have teams like MUNGU join the tournament who are faith based and who love to use their talents for God's glory. We had two teams enter this past tournament, our U14 team and our U10 team. In the U10 section of the tournament, our boys performed strongly throughout and finished second. We went ahead in the final through a goal by Ivan Tumusiime, but eventually fell short and lost 2-1. His goal in the final was one of 7 Ivan Tumusiime goals throughout the tournament. Our other scorers were James Kawooya who scored 10, Bright Kisakye scoring 6 goals and Joshua Ssegawa contributing 5 goals.
In our U-14 category we came up short in the semi-final were we lost a very tense and close match 1-0 vs Roal Giants. While the boys were disappointed not to get to the final there was a personal accolade to be won as Rayan Kimuli took home the Golden Boot Award for being the top scorer in the U14 tournament with 5 goals. Coach Kato and the rest of the management team were very proud of all the boys efforts and the way they represented God and Mungu Academy.
Coach's Corner.
Coach Kato's player to highlight this month is Ian Bukenya. Ian is an attacking midfielder whose favourite player to watch is Kevin de Bruyne. He is however a loyal supporter of Spanish giants Real Madrid. He is most thankful for the way Mungu helps grow his soccer talent and provides for his school fees, where he really enjoys mathematics. He thanks God for keeping him alive and sustaining him through all that life throws at him.
Faith. Football. Future.
